Evening racing highlighted at Bloomfield

Bloomfield, IA – Fair goers filled the grandstand at Bloomfield, Iowa to partake in the thrill of the evening card of harness racing on Wednesday (July 17).

With carnival rides in the backdrop, two-year-old trotters took the track for the first race. As the gate folded, Aqua Marie Pak (Marion “Jake” Saner) quickly took the lead, with Wind Slammer (Chad Svendsen) dropping into second and Twilight Ranger (Adam Hauser) sitting third. As they followed Aqua Marie Pak to the half, taking advantage of Wind Slammer becoming rough gaited, Twilight Ranger took up the pocket. Racing to the top of the lane, the top three horses looked for the line. Charging to the finish, Twilight Ranger gained command when Aqua Marie Pak went off stride. Twilight Ranger picked up his first lifetime win, trotting in 2:23.3.

Freshmen pacers were featured in race two. LB Unbelievable (Adam Hauser) drew the rail and did not look back as the race went off. Setting the pace in :30.2, 1:04.4 and 1:37.4, LB Unbelievable believed she had the race in hand. Pulling away from the field, LB Unbelievable captured her first lifetime win, pacing in 2:12.2.

Three-year-old trotters competed in race three. Hasty Justice (Jason Telfer) looked to take a quick win. Sprinting to the top from the four-hole, Hasty Justice cut the mile, trotting in :31, 1:03 and 1:33.4. With no competition in sight, it was all Hasty Justice at the line, setting a new lifetime mark in 2:06.2.

In race four, sophomore pacers stepped onto the track. Competing from the rail, Heidi Saner and Pacinmyheartaway left like a rocket to take control. Brilliant JB (Adam Hauser) settled tightly into the pocket as Pacinmyheartaway cut the mile. Quarters in :34.4, 1:05 and 1:34.4, Brilliant JB was hoping to take advantage of the trip, but Pacinmyheartaway had plenty of pace. Opening up by multiple lengths as they raced the final turn, Pacingmyheartaway was in full command. Dust kicking up from the bike wheels, Pacinmyheartaway raced victorious, pacing home in 2:05.1.

Hawkifly Gonspi (Cary Sturtz) went wire to wire in race five for Free For All trotters, his mile in 2:10.3. Red N Hotallover (Adam Hauser) had the same game plan in the closer for Free For All pacers, capturing her win in 2:01 flat.

Racing resumes on Thursday (July 18) morning at Monticello, Iowa. Post time is scheduled for 11 a.m. CST.
