Fair racing continues in Van Wert

Van Wert, OH — The Van Wert County Fair in Van Wert, Ohio, closed out its 2012 harness racing program with a seven-race card on Friday night (August 31). The Signature Series Pace and the Signature Series Trot highlighted the evening’s racing.

Mark Headworth guided Lovintouchinfeelin (Feelin Friskie-Western Touch) to the winner’s circle in the 2-year-old filly pace after a mile in 2:05.1. Bill Webb trains the filly and also co-owns her with Denny Miller.

Justlookatmymuscle (Iron Duke-Just Watch) trotted a mile in 2:11.3 to take the 2-year-old filly trot. Barbie Conner trains the filly and also co-owns her with son Cody. Rodney Conner does the driving on Justlookatmymuscle.

Greg Bateson piloted Friskie Flicker (Feelin Friskie-Double E Hanover) to victory in the 3-year-old filly pace. The Floral City Stable owns the filly with John Schuberg doing the training. Friskie Flicker toured the Van Wert oval in 2:01.2.

Tesla (Jailhouse Jesse-Linda In Love) captured the 3-year-old filly trot with a mile in 2:03. Myron Brown and Beth Simons own Tesla with Dave Brumbaugh doing the training. Jack Dailey picked up the winning drive on the filly.

Arizona Dawn took the Signature Series Pace in 2:00.2. Mark Headworth drove the gelding for owner-trainer Gary Gilliland. The Signature Series Trot went to Marquesas in 2:03. Bob Rowland is the owner-trainer-driver of Marquesas.

The lone overnight race on the evening’s card provided the fastest mile of the two-session meet. Bucky Can’t Caddy paced a mile in 2:00.1 for trainer-driver Scott Christner. Ervin Wickey pays the bills on Bucky Can’t Caddy.

Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association colt and filly action will continue at the Fulton County Fair in Wauseon with a 6 p.m. session on Tuesday (September 4).
