Fair racing opens at Hicksville, Ohio

Hicksville, OH — The Defiance County Fair at Hicksville, Ohio opened up its two-day meet with 13 races on Tuesday evening, August 24.

Mike Collins’ Ilikeher Charm (Ilooklikemymom-Charmin) took the fastest division of the 3-year-old filly trot in 2:05.3. Larry Rheinheimer is the filly’s trainer-driver. I’m Over The Top (Victory Sam-Thewaitisover) came home first in the other split for trainer-driver Greg Bateson. Bateson also co-owns I’m Over The Top with Bill Stout.

Midnight Mass (Dawn Ofa New Day-Spires) won the fastest division of the 2-year-old filly pace in 2:04.4. EG Trot LLC is the filly’s owner with Ed Greeno, Jr. handling the lines and Ed Greeno, Sr. doing the training. The other split went to Ben Ott’s Our Little Filly (Towner’s Big Guy-Two-fifty-seven) in 2:05.3. Tom Marts, Jr. is the trainer-driver of Our Little Filly.

R E Shawn (Jailhouse Jesse-Dick’s Lil Sister) captured the fastest split of the 3-year-old colt trot in 2:06.3. Mike Wolfe piloted the gelding for owner Paul Russell and trainer Ann Russell. Mike Wolfe also drove Rose Run Lee (Trainforthefuture-Lilyad) to victory in the other division in 2:09. Chad Williamson trains Rose Run Lee with Pete Meyer and Rick and Jim Estle picking up the expenses.

Manny Shuffle (Mantacular-Lady Shuffle) took the lone division of the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:04. Duke Sugg is the colt’s trainer-driver with Ivan Sugg and Robert and Randy Hutchison being the owners.

Mike Wolfe steered Nowthat’saplanman to victory in the Gene L. Vance Memorial Pace, which is the fair’s signature pace. TC Stables and Craig Hayter are the 7-year-old’s owners with John Kina doing the training. Nowthat’saplanman toured the Hicksville oval in 1:59.2.

Harness racing concludes at the Defiance County Fair on Friday with a ten-race card. Post time for the first race will be 6:30 p.m.
