Fair racing opens in Attica, Ohio

Attica, OH — The Attica Independent Fair at Attica, Ohio, opened up its two-day meet on Wednesday evening (August 10). Six harness races were contested with stick-horse races for kids mixed throughout the program.

Nancy Watson’s Special Dark (On The Attack-Game Shannon) captured the 3-year-old filly pace in 2:02.4. Ken Fortney provides the training and driving services for the filly.

Lofty Jessica (Jailhouse Jesse-Lofty Comer) took the 2-year-old filly trot in 2:11. John Konesky III is the trainer-driver of Lofty Jessica and also co-owns her with his son Patrick.

Tory (Victory Sam-Ataxia) won the first division of the 3-year-old filly trot in 2:08.4 for trainer-driver Jim Larrabee. Donald Brooks and Michael Griffin pick up the expenses on Tory. Speedy Lizzy (Victory Sam-Senena Baby) found the winner’s circle in the second split after a mile in 2:13.4. Dr. H.D. Schoonover, who is the oldest driver in North America in 2011 at 93 years old, is the trainer-driver of Speedy Lizzy and also owns her with his daughters Sandra Schoonover and Sharon Wyant.

Ryan Stahl steered Frisky’s Melody ((Feelin Friskie-Reynosa Hanover) to victory in the 2-year-old filly pace. Stahl co-owns the filly with Jerry Metter with Greg Straub providing the training duties. Frisky’s Melody toured the Attica oval in 2:10.3.

Racing at the Attica Independent Fair concludes Thursday afternoon (August 11) with another six-race card. Post time for the first race is 1 p.m.
