Wednesday’s (August 4) edition of Fair Roundup features stories from Clearfied, Pa. and Bowling Green, Ohio.

Sophomore trotters in action at Clearfield

Clearfield, PA — Day three of a four-day meet at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds in Clearfield, Pa., featured 3-year-old trotters in stakes action.

The first two races on the nine-race card were Quaker Stakes for trotters, featuring state-owned or state-bred horses. Anastasia Paul, a colt by Trainforthefuture, won the first race in 2:08.4. Bill Daugherty drove for owner/trainer Joe Urban.

In the second Quaker trot, Red Oaks Katherine won her first career start for lessee and trainer Syl King, Jr., covering the mile in 2:16.3. Wayne Long drove the Go Get Lost filly.

Pennsylvania Sire Stake races comprised the rest of the day’s action, and the first 3-year-old filly trot featured the fastest mile of the afternoon. PJ’s Photo, making just the second start of her career, was an upset winner in 2:03.2 for trainer/driver Daren Harvey. Pius Soehnlen owns the SJ’s Photo filly.

The second filly trotting division also resulted in an upset, as Eagle Say, winless in 12 previous starts, scored in 2:07.1 for driver Winston Lineweaver. Bill Kreutzer and Eileen Lineweaver own the SJ’s Photo filly, while Joyce Lineweaver trains.

In the third division, Cummingsandgoings (SJ’s Caviar) won in 2:05.3 for owner/trainer/driver Randy Neal. Cliff Neal co-owns the filly, now a winner of three straight on the circuit.

In the final split, Futures Photo (SJ’s Photo) was a 2:08 winner for driver Brady Brown. Ashley Brown trains for owners Robert and Terry Brown and Bernard Callihan.

Three colt trotting stakes ended the day, with victories earned by Washington County (Sierra Kosmos), Trevor R (Tagliabue) and KT Justin A Moment (Super Vintage).

Washington County, owned by trainer John McMullen along with Michelle McMullen, trotted in 2:07 for driver Wilbur Yoder.

Trevor R covered the mile in 2:05.2 for driver Bryce Truitt, who co-owns with his wife, trainer Cindy Truitt.

KT Justin A Moment, owned and trained by Ken Weaver, posted the fastest time among the colts, 2:05.1, with Eddie McNeight at the helm.

The final day of stakes at the Clearfield County Fair will be on Thursday beginning at 12 Noon, featuring sophomore pacers.

Sophomore trotters in action at Clearfield

Bowling Green, OH — The Wood County Fair at Bowling Green, Ohio, completed its two-day meet with ten races on Wednesday evening.

Manny Shuffle (Mantacular-Lady Shuffle) won the lone division of the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:06.4. Duke Sugg trains and drives the colt with Ivan Sugg and Robert and Randy Hutchison picking up the expenses.

Maryann and Patrick Konesky’s Just Plain Jesse (Jailhouse Jesse-Just Plain Denise) captured the only division of the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:12.2. John Konesky III is the gelding’s trainer-driver.

The Sugg-Hutchison team returned to the winner’s circle in the fastest split of the 3-year-old colt pace with Hi Hopes Cruiser (Yankee Cruiser-Odds On Elaine). The gelding toured the Bowling Green oval in 2:03.1.

The second division went to Dawn Of Trey (Dawn Ofa New Day-Pocket O’Dreams) in 2:04. Dawn Of Trey is owned and driven by Ryan Stahl with Alan Smith doing the training.

Both divisions of the 3-year-old colt trot ended with miles in 2:06.4. Win Master (Master Lavec-Sexy Sahbra) captured the first division for owner-trainer Roger Huard and driver Ryan Stahl.

The second split went to Emil Konesky’s Lima Extreme (Ilooklikemymom-Erica Seelster). Mark Headworth is the trainer-driver of Lima Extreme.
