Ferrari, Impressive Chief win GLADA Trot

Northfield, OH — Impressive Chief ($13.00) and driver Larry Ferrari turned in a decisive 1:58.1 effort to capture Sunday evening’s (Feb. 6) $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association Trot at MGM Northfield Park.

After starting from post two, Impressive Chief was looped on the first turn by Fulton’s Fury, but reclaimed command after a stiff :28.1 first quarter. Once clear on the lead, Ferrari kept the pedal to the metal, and Impressive Chief led through a :57.3 half. Up the backstretch, the 11-year-old Hard Rock N Roll gelding began to widen his lead, drawing 3-1/2 lengths clear of Fulton’s Fury past three-quarters in 1:27.2 before reaching the finish line 4-1/4 lengths clear. Pepin Coolie (Eddie Miller) rallied for second, a head better than Curlys Son (Marion Chupp).
