Fillies go fast miles in London, Ohio

by Bill Peters, Regional Coordinator, the Ohio Fair Racing Conference

Edgerton, OH — The Madison County Fair in London, Ohio, played host on Sunday (July 12) to the second round of racing in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference. There were 159 horses entered, and they were contested in 23 races.

The 3-year-old filly pacer Finefeelinfriskie (Feelin Friskie-Lady Shuffle) turned in the fastest mile of the day with a 1:59 clocking. The filly is owned by Carl Howard, Gerrie Tucker, and Brian Kohen. Virgil Morgan Jr. is the trainer with Chris Page picking up the winning drive.

The fastest trot of the afternoon came in one of the splits of the 3-year-old filly trot when I’d Rather Walk (Chip Chip Hooray-All Thumbs) stopped the timer at 2:02. Joe Nesselroad pays the bills on the filly with John Ryan Melsheimer doing both the training and driving.

Chris Page was the leading driver for the day with eight wins while Chris Beaver led the trainers with three trips to the winner’s circle.

Congratulations to Speed Superintendent Amy Nichols and her entire crew at the Madison County Fair for putting on an excellent show.

The next stop in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference will be at the Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor. Racing will take place at Oak Harbor on Monday (July 20) and Tuesday (July 21). Post time will be 5:30 p.m. each day.
