Fitzsimmons closing in on 1,000 wins

from Western Fair Media Relations

London, ON — Today marks the first Monday afternoon program of the Fall Meet at The Raceway at Western Fair District and could prove a significant one for long time London trainer Larry Fitzsimmons, who comes into today’s card just one victory away from 1,000 in his career.

Fitzsimmons has two possible contenders to give him the milestone win, starting with Native Roots who has post four in the sixth race. The 6-year-old Allamerican Native stallion won his most recent start at Grand River. Fitzsimmons has trained the horse, who has made the majority of his starts in London, since his career began.

In the very next race he sends out the 4-year-old Modern Art son Looks R Deceiving who has post seven. Both horses are scheduled to be driven by Bruce Richardson.

Post time for today’s card is 3:35 p.m. and will be covered on HPItv with the pre-game show starting at 3:05. Free program pages and live video of the races are always available at the Western Fair website through this link.

Today’s Pick-4, which has a 15 percent takeout, offers a C$4,000 guaranteed pool. The new Pick-5 (also offered at 15 percent) starts in race 3, with a carryover of just under C$300 going into today’s program.
