Fort Washington, MD – Russell Foster extended his lead atop the Rosecroft Raceway driving standings with four wins on Thursday’s (Nov. 6) 13-race program.
The 36-year-old native of Maryland’s Eastern Shore kicked off his grand slam with a pair of last-to-first scores, winning race 5, a $4,500 first-level distaff pace, with Kevin Altig trainee Caviart Rachel (1:56.1, $30.60); and coming right back in race 6, a $7,500 conditioned event for pacing fillies and mares, with Amanda Blackford trainee Rockin Remme (1:55.4, $3.20). Foster returned to win race 9, a $5,500 first-level conditioned trot, with Amanda Malone trainee Cantab’s Master (1:57.4, $18.60) before teaming up with conditioner Basil Sapienza to capture the finale, a $6,000 second-level distaff pace, with Little Judith (1:56, $7.00).
Foster’s 46 driving wins at the current meet give him a 14-win cushion over Roger Plante Jr., who is in second with 32. Jonathan Roberts (18), Eric Davis (17) and William Carter (15) round out the top five.
The Jackpot Hi-5 was hit in race 10, with Ohoka Le Bron N (1:55, $6.80) and driver Mark Sheridan keying a 9-4-8-6-5 combination that returned $5,292.60 on a single 50-cent ticket.
Live racing returns to Rosecroft on Monday (Nov. 10); the Pick-5 will feature a carryover of $419.05. First post is 7:15 p.m. (EST).
