Columbus, OH — Frank Fay Quillen, 93, of Harrington, Del., died Dec. 1, 2024.
Born Oct. 7, 1931, to the late Harry and Cora Quillen, Mr. Quillen lived the majority of his life in Harrington. After attending Harrington School, he joined the United States Army. Upon his return, he worked for Bond Bread, continued his career as a horseman, and became an auctioneer, working for himself and Fasig-Tipton.
As an auctioneer, Mr. Quillen secured funds for various organizations, including the American Federation of Women’s Auxiliary, Kiwanis, Lions Club and SPCA. A lifelong horseman, Mr. Quillen owned, trained and drove Standardbred horses, most notably Adios Frank.
He was a Mason, member of the American Legion, Harrington Moose, USTA and Avon Club, served as a board member of Harvest Years Senior Center, and was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrington.
Mr. Quillen is survived by his two daughters, Renee Quillen-Knox (David) and Thea Quillen; grandchildren, Theo Knox, August Knox, and Haley Quillen-Knox; sister-in-law, Joan Quillen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry, Hayward, Rep. George Robert (“Bobby”) and Francis; sister, Grace Wanda; nephew, Christopher; and longtime companion, Edie Hemphill.
Services will be private and at a later date.
