Freehold to open Thursday for 39-day spring meet

Freehold, NJ — Freehold Raceway, America’s oldest pari-mutuel harness track, will resume live harness racing action on Thursday (March 1), when the raceway opens for its 39-day spring meet.

The spring meet will be highlighted by the $160,000 (est.) Dexter Cup Trot on Saturday (May 5) and its companion filly event, the $80,000 (est.) Lady Suffolk Trot on Friday (May 4).

Freehold will once again be participating in the United States Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program and will be offering a $5,000 guaranteed Pick-4 (races 2-5) each day of the meet.

On Opening Day, six-pack coolers will be given away with the purchase of a Freehold program (while supplies last). The Renaissance Dining Room will offer a special Opening Day buffet for $13.95.

Freehold will conduct live racing three days per week, Thursday through Saturday. First post for the meet will be 12:30 p.m. (ET).
