French trainer fined $66,500 and banned four years

Spanish-born Miquel X. Mestre Suner, who has had a stable in France for several years, has now been sentenced after four doping cases last year.

Four positive doping tests — one of the horses tested positive for Cobalt — within six weeks last year for horses from  Mestre Suner’s stable have now been sentenced by the French Central Confederation.

Mastre Suner is fined 60,000 Euro or $66,500, and he is also banned from French trotting until Oct. 25, 2023.

The four horses that tested positive have also been excluded from race participation for one year; this penalty, however, is ongoing and has been the case since September-October last year.

Mestre Suner ran a stable of horses mainly belonging to Ecurie Bruni, and last year the stable’s Guillermo Sport won the Prix Albert Viel, a Group 1 race at Vincennes.
