Friday five-pack of MADC events

East Rutherford, NJ — Five different drivers won in the quintet of Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club events held on a warm and hazy Friday night (June 30) at the Meadowlands.

In the first race, there were several horses vying for the top spot, and after a :27 first quarter, That’smytype (Dominik Miga) moved three-wide for the lead and never looked back, holding off all challengers and win in hand by 3 lengths. Dismissed at long odds, he beat the post time favorite, Deerfield Beach (Anthony Verruso) in 1:54.3. Miga owns the 4-year old mare, whom James Marshall IV trains.

In the fifth race, scratched down to a field of nine, Bionic (Jim King Solomon) got the lead easily through a :27.3 first quarter. He was backing down the second quarter when Nathan Feelsgood (Peter Kleinhans) tried to quarter-move but was quickly rebuffed. These two went around in order until the three-quarter pole before Solomon pulled away from the field to win by six lengths in 1:53.3. In Nevada N (Bruno Chiodo) finished second while Red Dirt Boomer (Tony Beltrami) nosed out Fire Light (Matt Zuccarello) for third. The 5-year old gelding is owned by Blazer One Racing and is trained by Michael Shults.

In the seventh race on the card, Thndrfrmthethron N (Neil Glasser) left for the lead from his outside post and prevailed by just over four lengths in 1:54. Harry Hanover (James Slendorn) skimmed the cones to rally for second while Johnny Q (Zuccarello) had some momentum in the stretch to round out the trifecta. The 9-year old gelding is owned by Glasser and is trained by Mike Watson.

The ninth race on the card featured some more late night hardball with the two inside horses at long odds vying for early supremacy into the first turn through a :27.1 first stanza. With Dont Get Shocked (Paul Kramer) hung on the outside, Magazine Theme (Beltrami) was trying to go as fast and as far as he could go. It was determined later that Kramer had a broken hobble and was lucky not to have gone down in the race. While this was happening on the front end, the outer flow was in gear early and as the field turned for home, horses were fanned five-wide for the stretch journey. A game Yer So Bad (Verruso) emerged victorious by a neck in 1:53.3 over Bank Sea (Juan Cano) while long shot Seeuinnashville A (Cameron Capone) ended up third. The 6 year-old gelding is owned by Karen Taft and is trained by Symon Spicer.

In the final MADC race on the card (race 13), Ferdinand A (Slendorn) blasted from his outside position and getting to the lead relatively easily. He looked in full command by two lengths as the field entered the stretch but was collared late by Mask On Mask Off (Cote Keim), who prevailed by just over a length in 1:53.1 over Slendorn, who held second. Colt Fourty One (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) picked up the show dough. The 4-year old gelding is also trained and owned by Keim himself.

The MADC will be back next Friday night (July 7) with first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
