G Momma is fastest winner in Meadows series opener

by Evan Pattak, for The Meadows

Washington, PA — Hammered to 1-5 in the wagering, G Momma justified the support when she rolled first over to victory in the fastest division of Wednesday’s (March 5) opening leg of the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trot at The Meadows.

Hierarchy and Glams K took the other $15,000 splits of the Wohlmuth, a series for 3- and 4-year-old trotting fillies and mares that honors the memory of the late Mary Wohlmuth, longtime manager of The Meadows’ 2:00 Club.

Mike Wilder enjoyed a Wohlmuth double behind G Momma and Hierarchy.

G Momma was sitting third down the backside when Wilder sent her after the leader, Boo’s Party Girl. The 4-year-old daughter of SJ’s Caviar-Strike Ten sailed home in 1:59.1, four lengths better than Boo’s Party Girl. Westfiftyfirst earned show. Paul Corey trains G Momma for Howard Kaufman, Joshua Kaufman and William Eltzroth.

In the $18,000 Filly & Mare Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot, Daylon Miracle was much the best again, notching her third straight victory — this time in front-end fashion — for Aaron Merriman and owner/trainer Bill Bercury. Vixy was 1-3/4 lengths back in second, with Chilitodayhotamale third. The 5-year-old daughter of Pegasus Spur-Daylon Marvel extended her career bankroll to $285,503.

Merriman drove four winners and Brett Miller three on the 15-race card.
