Geauga County Fair enjoys successful day

Burton, OH — The great Geauga County Fair continued its fine tradition in 2014.

The Geauga County Fair is the oldest fair and best kept secret in Burton, Ohio. The fair celebrated its 192nd anniversary in 2014. The hospitality extended to the horseman and fairgoers is second to none. Although the horses were in short supply, the purses were abundant.

The single day of harness racing action went postward on Saturday (Aug. 30). Purses were in excess of $42,000 for the afternoon’s eight-race program. It was a profitable day for all horsemen.

Another honored tradition at the fair are the half-mile Amish races. The local Amish community bring their horses to compete in the two $300 heats with hopes to return in the $400 final. As always it was a huge success and definitely a fan pleaser.

The fair board wants to say thank you to all horsemen who participated and supported this year’s fair and looks forward to another great fair in 2015.
