Toronto, ON — After purchasing a trip and sending his parents to the Cayman Islands this week, young driver Scott Zeron knew exactly what he was doing coming into Monday night’s (Feb. 28) C$60,000 General Brock final aboard his father Rick’s trainee, E W Fisher. The son of Fool Me Not (18-1) scored an overpowering victory at Woodbine and lowered the stakes record to 1:54.2, paying $39.80.

E W Fisher lowered the stakes record to 1:54.2 for driver Scott Zeron.

Zeron blasted off the gate in the early going and crossed over to take command before the opening panel in :27.3, ahead of Lukes Raoule (Mark MacDonald) and Zeus Lightning (Sylvain Filion).

Heading towards the half, post time favorite Magic Machine (Chris Christoforou) was positioned fifth, as E W Fisher took his nine rivals past the half in :56.4 and the three-quarters in 1:26.

Heading into the turn, Magic Machine elected to pull first over and caught the cover of Zeus Lightning, who made a break in stride which left Magic Machine first-over.

Turning for home, Zeron asked E W Fisher for more trot and the six time winner got the jump on Magic Machine, using a :28.2 final quarter to post a four length victory.

“My dad told me to drive E W Fisher over his other entry Paiging Kadabra coming into tonight’s race. He said this horse was due to go a big mile and couldn’t find racing room last week; he was right,” Zeron said following the victory.

When asked about sending his parents on vacation this week, Zeron responded. “I knew what I was doing,” he said chuckling. “Everything happens for a reason; my parents are happy but I’m happier.”

E W Fisher enjoyed the largest payday of his career, as his earnings climbed to C$54,760 for owners Lisa Lang and Saul Mendelson.
