GLADA drivers ready their trotters for Monday’s race

by Patricia Miller, for the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association

Hazel Park, MI — Another full field of Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association drivers will take to the track on Monday (June 10) to try for the points and the glory of a win at Hazel Park.

New faces and new horses may have their say or one of the regulars could come out on top, but that’s why they run the race as they say.

A John Bangert trainee and frequent GLADA contestant, Smokin Steven, with Mike Mitchell in charge, will try for first away in the lucky one hole, but Miss Tiger Lily with Larry Steenbergen in the bike will be nipping at his heels. Hay Look Out, in rein to Pat Miller, is next and Centre County, trained by June Du Russel, leaves from the four hole in the hands of Kelly Walker. Kara Buxton drives Cacao Rust, trained by Al Tomlinson, from the five, and Jerry Mihelich steers Baby B, a Skip De Mull trainee, from the six. On out is Junior Cole with his own Score Card, Crown Glory trained by Jeff Picket with Richard Roach at the wheel, and R B Spirit, trained and driven by Scott Galloway.

The excitement peaks as the field faces the starter and the trotters rip out front on their way to victory. Supported by a crowd of family, friends and well wishers, the race is on.
