Glasser, Keim win 2023 MADC finales

East Rutherford, NJ — David Glasser and Cote Keim won the final two Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club (MADC) races of 2023, held Friday (Dec. 29) at the Meadowlands, and they both came from off the pace in their respective upsets.

In the first race, Cloudbreak (Kubi Erzene) once again left for the lead, but unlike last week, he garnered the top spot pretty easily. He looked to bottom out the field after a :55.3 middle half and entered the stretch up by six lengths, but he shortened strides late and was collared before the wire by Mask On Mask Off (David Glasser), who drew off to beat Cloudbreak by four lengths in 1:54.3. Archetto Hanover (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) rallied for third.

Mike Watson trains 4-year-old gelding Mask On Mask Off for Glasser Racing LLC.

The fourth race found Ferdinand A (James Slendorn) where he likes to be: on the lead. He led his field of nine into the stretch with little pressure before facing stiff pressure from the other two in a three-hose breakaway. The longtime leader was worn down on the outside by eventual winner Camlachie Chrome (Cote Keim), who won by just over two lengths in 1:53. Ferdinand A was able to hold second over the pocket sitter Dandy Idea (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan).

Keim trains Camlachie Chrome, and he co-owns the 4-year-old gelding with George “Buzzy” Sholty.

The MADC will be back next Friday night (Jan. 5, 2024) to kick off the 2024 season. First post time is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
