Bjerke, Norway – French bred but Dutch-owned and trained Hades de Vandel with Robin Bakker in the bike won the Group one race, Oslo Grand Prix at Bjerke Sunday (June 11) afternoon.
Sitting second over Bakker made his move with Paul Hagoort-trained Hades de Vandel round the last bend and down the stretch he passed long leading Moni Viking with Björn Goop to win easily in 1.53.4f (mile rate) followed by Oscar LA with trainer/driver Joakim Løvgren and Moni Viking for third.
The purse for the winner was one mio. NOK or $93,000 US dollars. Hades de Vandel is a $30,000 Euro-yearling sired by Ganymede, who won the Oslo Grand Prix 1999. Hades de Vandel is the first ever to win the Oslo Grand Prix sired by a former winner.
