Middletown, DE – Hambletonian No. 100 and the Oaks led off as Grade 1 star billing with seven other graded events which comprised the Grand Circuit show over the past weekend. Held at The Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J., the racing card drew a large crowd and didn’t disappoint as wagering was just shy of $7.5 million (without foreign numbers added yet). While the word perfect shouldn’t be used lightly, the races and weather were just that. Visitors from all over the globe and many “alumni” from previous years joined together to reminisce and enjoy the day’s races.
This week the Grand Circuit travels west to Indiana and the State Fair in Indianapolis on Wednesday along with the Grade 2 Dan Patch at Hoosier Park on Friday evening. Saturday moves to Northfield for the Milstein Memorial, another Grade 2 event for 3-year-old pacers by invitation.
In the driver category, Dexter Dunn has pulled further ahead of early leader Jason Bartlett while Ron Burke is on top in the trainer column. Owners are still led by the appropriately named stable of Determination. Sponsored by Winbak Farm, the leaders can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
