Harness racing returns to Mineral Point on June 25

from the Wisconsin Harness Horse Assoc. Marketing Dept.

Mineral Point, WI — Harness racing returns to Mineral Point on June 25 at the Iowa County Fairgrounds. Take a drive down historic Shake Rag Street, home of the many lead miners in the early days of Mineral Point on your way to the races.

Many of Wisconsin’s veteran drivers and younger drivers will be racing over the famed Iowa County oval as they continue their quest to be the top driver in Wisconsin for 2011. Also, look to see many younger horses from the southeast corner of America’s Dairyland making their first lifetime start. The Iowa County horsemen have the racetrack in tip-top shape which was proved at last year’s fair when Finn Jet set the track record (and tied the all state record). He paced a mile in a blistering 1:58.

For the fans, there will be a Pick-A-Winner contest and numerous raffles and prize giveaways sponsored by the Iowa County horsemen. There will also be a tee shirt toss sponsored by the Wisconsin Harness Horse Association.

Everyone is always welcome in the barns on the backstretch to meet and greet the drivers and trainers, or take a seat on a tack trunk and just simply talk “harness racing.” We hope to see you at the races.
