Harold “Sonny” Storey, 88, dies

Vernon, NY — Harold “Sonny” Storey, 88, of Westmoreland, N.Y., died April 26, 2016.

Mr. Storey owned, trained and drove Standardbreds at Vernon Downs for many years, including opening night in 1953.

A United States Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma; daughters, Jackie (Barry) VanDreason and Sally Farrow (Jim Trombino); three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Monday (May 2) at 11 a.m. at Westmoreland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Sunday (May 1) from 2-5 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, 418 North George St., Rome, N.Y.
