Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway’s 78th season of live harness racing will commence Monday (April 8) with a 15-race program starting at 4:30 p.m.
Live racing will be conducted primarily on a Monday through Wednesday schedule throughout the season with a customary summer break in July and early August.
Free racing programs are available online at the track’s website here courtesy of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association. For patrons ontrack, live programs are available in the sportsbook/simulcast area for $2.
The wagering menu will feature superfectas in most races and an early and late Pick-4. Both bets have a 50-cent base amount and maintain the propensity to build quickly as there is a 100 percent carryover to the next available wager of that type if no winning tickets are sold. The early Pick-4 is race two, while the late Pick-4 is the last four races nightly.
Four-time defending driving champ Allan Davis leads a competitive driving colony while three-time defending trainer champion Joe Columbo heads the conditioners.
The opening day feature is the $22,500 Open for pacers, slated as the sixth race. Brendan Davis’ Trojan Banner N (5-2, Tyler Davis) was installed as the morning line favorite and looks to extend his win streak to four after winning three straight weeks in a $50,000 claiming handicap at Bally’s Dover.
There is one day of racing breaking from the summer hiatus on July 25 during the Delaware State Fair where the annual Governor’s Day card (special 7 p.m. post time) is the richest card of the year for Delaware horses with more than $650,000 in total purses expected, headlined by the $110,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals for 3-year-olds and $50,000 Governor’s Cup for older horses.
Trackside seating is available in the clubhouse during the season and customers can order food and beverage at the adjacent Murphy’s Race and Sports Book bar.
