Despite a third place finish on Saturday, Ricky Be Sharp earned the Iowa-sired 2-year-old trotting colt champion title. With wins in the first two Iowa Sires Stakes meets, the American Native gelding accumulated enough points to top the standings being the only horse in his division to win at two of the three meets.

With Iowa Sires Stakes racing finished for 2018, there are only three Iowa-registered meets left until the Sept. 22-23 Iowa Finals Weekend. After three weekends at Humboldt, racing moves to What Cheer with 2-year-olds competing on Saturday (Sept. 1), followed by 3-year-olds on Sunday. Post time is 12:30 p.m.
