Herb Cahill, 75, dies

Columbus, OH — Herb Cahill, 75, of Fremont, Ohio, died Sept. 28, 2010 at his home.

He was born on June 29, 1935 in York Township, Union County, Ohio, to Bruce and Mary (Dillon) Cahill. H graduated in 1953 from Northwestern High School in Raymond, Ohio, where he was the president of his class. On August 6, 1968 he married Sharon Sickmiller in West Virginia and she survives.

He was a member of the Ohio National Guard and worked as an Agricultural salesman for Rural-Serv, retiring in 1996.

Mr. Cahill enjoyed hunting, dirt track racing, Standardbred horses and following the Clyde girls basketball program. A former member of 4-H, he earned the Spirit of 4-H, one of its top honors. While with 4-H he showed his love for animals, winning cattleshipman awards at the Richwood and Ohio State Fairs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John (Lindi); granddaughters, Amanda, Caroline and Abigail; brother, Bob (Margo); sister, Judy (Dave) Masters; nephew, Greg (Kim) Masters; great-niece and nephew, Dillon and Paige; and his canine best friend, Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clyde High School girls basketball program.
