History repeats itself in France

Soisy-sous-Montmorency, France — For the second consecutive year, the €200,000 Prix de l’Atlantique was won by Italian top trotter Vivid Wise As, followed by Etonnant and Delia du Pommereux — achieving the same result on Saturday (April 23) as in the 2021 renewal of Hippodrome d’Enghien’s biggest annual race.

Vivid Wise As and Matthieu Abrivard got revenge for defeat at Cagnes-sur-Mer to Etonnant and Anthony Barrier last month.

Etonnant was in command most of the trip with Vivid Wise As parked outside without cover.

While Etonnant had some problems keeping trotting, Vivid Wise As trotted like clockwork and easily won the 2,150-meter (about 1-5/16 miles) event in 1.55.2 (mile rate). The purse for the winner was €90,000 ($97,000 U.S.).

Vivid Wise As, who is trained by Alessandro Gocciadoro, was invited to race in the Elitlopp. Now Gocciadoro will have two starters in the Elitlopp as, on Saturday, he got an invitation to race another top trotter in his stable, Vernissage Grif, in the Elitlopp.
