Norway — French trotter Hohneck (sired by Royal Dream), owned and trained by Philippe Allaire and driven by Gabriele Gelormini, delivered a powerful performance at the Argentan track in Normandy, proving he’s in top shape for the upcoming International Trot at Yonkers Raceway in September.
Hohneck won convincingly in the mile race Criterium de Vitesse de Basse-Normandie, setting a new race and track record of 1:51.2, beating the previous mark of 1:51.4 held by Up and Quick. The winner’s purse was €54,000.
Double Deceiver Triumphs in Sweden
In Sweden, Double Deceiver (sired by Cantab Hall), trained by Daniel Redén and driven by Örjan Kihlström, claimed victory in a thrilling finish in the Jämtlands Stora Pris (1-5/16 mile) at the Östersund track. He edged out Gio Cash, driven by Daniel Wäjersten, with both horses clocking 1:53.2f (mile rate). The winner’s purse was $62,500.
