Hollywood Dayton opening a week away

from Hollywood Dayton Raceway

Dayton, OH — Opening night of the second season at Hollywood Dayton Raceway is Monday (Sept. 14) with a 6:35 p.m. post time.

The initial week of live racing will follow the regular five-nights-a-week schedule with programs presented on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Following a short hiatus the second week (during Little Brown Jug week at the Delaware, Ohio fairgrounds), the new track will resume on Friday night (Sept. 25) and race the regular schedule through December.

Condition sheets are now available on the USTA website. The draw for opening night will be this Thursday (Sept. 10), with the box closing at 2 p.m.

“Dayton Raceway strongly encourages the use of the USTA online entry option,” said Race Secretary Gregg Keidel. “Last year 67 percent of our entries were received online and it works extremely efficiently. Trainers who haven’t tried it should view the short tutorial on the USTA website’s homepage and use it when possible. Of course our phones will be manned from noon to 2 p.m. on draw days for those that prefer to call their entries in.”

A dress rehearsal qualifying session will be held this Thursday (Sept. 10) at 11 a.m. with entries due Wednesday (Sept. 9) by entering online or calling Myles Linderman or Terri Mt. Pleasant at Scioto Downs.

Dayton Raceway’s second season will include a pair of Grand Circuit events — the Dayton Pacing Derby and the Dayton Trotting Derby — as well as lucrative Ohio Sires Stakes championship races for older horses and a new $100,000 (est.) Ohio Fairs Circuit Night of Champions.
