I Scoot Hanover dies at age 15

Standout Indiana stallion I Scoot Hanover was euthanized at Michigan State University on Sept. 2, 2012, after suffering a brief terminal illness that was inoperable.

I Scoot Hanover stood his entire career at Hillcrest Farm in Goshen, Ind. His connections will always be grateful and wish to give a special thank you to Barbara Bongiorno for selecting them to stand I Scoot Hanover when she retired him from racing in 2003.

I Scoot Hanover was a world champion and held the 2-year-old track record of 1:53.1 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds for 11 years from 1999 until 2010.

He has sired two sub-1:50 horses (Robin I Scoot and Freddyscooter) and was Indiana’s 2008 stallion of the year.

There seems to be several I Scoot Hanover foals racing on virtually every pari-mutuel card raced at Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs over the past several years.

He was truly a champion both as a racehorse and as a stallion.
