Dover, DE — Incaseyoudidntknow surged late and won Wednesday night’s (Jan. 22) $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover.
Incaseyoudidntknow, who had been off over a month, parked out 1-2 favorite Elektra A through a :26.4 opening quarter, but Elektra A advanced to clear and reached the half in :56.1 as Betterthanhope N motored first-over into the backstretch with Factory Girl and Majorca N shadowing cover.
Elektra A led the field to the three-quarters in 1:24.2, but Factory Girl angled three-wide and Majorca N followed four-wide as Betterthanhope N began to tire. All the while, Incaseyoudidntknow waited patiently in the pocket before rallying to collar Elektra A in deep stretch to win by a neck in 1:52.2. Elektra A finished second; Melody Hanover was third.
Incaseyoudidntknow, a daughter of Always B Miki, is owned by James Mango and Joseph Fonte, trained by Les Givens, and was driven by Jim Morand. She paid $11.40 to win.
Tim Tetrick led all drivers with five wins; Allan Davis scored a triple.
On Thursday night (Jan. 23), Sprocket and Alta Revelry N — both victorious in their last starts — will do battle in the $16,000 conditioned pacing feature. There will also be a $3,712 carryover in the Pick-5, which spans races 6-10. First post is 4:30 p.m.
