Dayton, PA — Three speed records set over the two days of racing at the Dayton Fairgrounds this past weekend have some interesting back stories.
The Wonder Dancer sophomore gelding Ibanez matched the all-age track trotting mark of 2:02.2 Sunday in winning for driver Eric Neal, trainer Randal Neal, and owners Ellen Warren and Eileen Lineweaver. The first 2:02.2 had been trotted almost 14 years ago — by K T Junior on August 20, 1998.
The freshman pacing filly DVC Jaded Attitude kept that divisional record “all in the family” when she won in 2:01.1 on Saturday. The previous track recordholder, like the new one handled by David Brickell, was DVC Hopnattitude (7-17-10) — and they are Magical Mike–Cajun Attitude full sisters!
Roger Hammer kept control of the 2-year-old trotting colt mark when Albany House notched a track mark of 2:04.3 Saturday under Hammer’s direction. Roger was also in the sulky when Redder Than Red had set the previous standard of 2:05.3 last August 18.
