Columbus, OH – A story Tuesday (Jan. 6) on the Paulick Report says the Illinois Racing Board on Monday (Jan. 5) gave Hawthorne Race Course a green light to reopen its 11 off-track betting facilities and resume live racing three days after the state regulatory agency ordered the Stickney, Ill., track to cease operations because it had failed to meet unspecified requirements for a 2026 license.

The Illinois Racing Board issued the following 2026 licenses:
– 2026 Organization Licenses for Hawthorne Race Course and Suburban Downs
– Advance Deposit Wagering License to Hawthorne Race Course, Inc.
– Intertrack Wagering License to Hawthorne Race Course, Inc.
– Intertrack Wagering License to Suburban Downs, Inc.
– Intertrack Wagering Location Licenses to Hawthorne Race Course, Inc. for locations in Joliet, Lansing, Prospect Heights, Crestwood, Oakbrook Terrace, Evergreen Park, Hoffman Estates, McHenry, North Aurora, Rockford, and Villa Park.
