Italian Muscle Hill colt wins debut in 1:59.1f

Europe’s fastest 2-year-old trotter so far is the Italian Muscle Hill colt Ginostrabliggi, who won his debut Sunday (July 7) at the Vinovo track in Turin by open lengths, timed in 1:59.1f.

Ginostrabliggi is owned, bred and trained by top French trainer Philippe Allaire and had Gabriele Gelormini in the bike.

Allaire also trains the winner of the first race for 2-year-old trotters in France, raced Sunday at the grass track at Bernay. That was another colt, Monzon Normand with Yoann Lebourgeois in the bike, who won followed by stablemate Melody Cool with David Thomas. Monzon Normand is sired by Hohneck and from his first crop and thus became his first winner.

In Norway, Sweden’s Ônas Prince (sired by Chocolatier), with trainer Per Nordström in the bike, won the Ulf Thoresen Grand International over 1-5/16th miles very easily in 1:53.2f (mile rate).
