Jack Calvert, 82, dies

Okemos, MI — Jack Calvert, 82, a horseman and announcer on the Michigan County Fair Circuit for 62 years, died July 31, 2012, in Davison, Mich.

Mr. Calvert raced from Florida to Quebec and many places in between, a fact that he was proud of. His favorite horses were Meadow Smitty and Bye De.

He is survived by his daughter, Marsha; son, Jerry; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday (Aug. 3) from 4-8 p.m. at the Muir Funeral Home in Lapeer, Mich. The funeral is Saturday (Aug. 4) at 11 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Church in North Branch.

Mr. Calvert’s family asked that in lieu of donations, that you have a cold drink and watch harness racing.
