James W. Schulte, 78, dies

Lexington, KY – James W. Schulte, 78, husband of Donna Sue Schulte, sadly passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Lexington KY.

He was born in Covington, KY to the late Albert C. and Edna Kathryn Schulte. He graduated from St. Henry’s High School and attended Eastern State University. James made a living in the screen printing and embroidery business for over thirty years and was the owner of Sew Fast and Country Embroidery.

He was a family man who enjoyed taking his grandchildren to basketball and volleyball games and always took pride in being their biggest fan. James was a member of Ss. St. Francis and John Catholic Parish at Cardome and loved serving those in need and lending a helping hand whenever needed.

He had a passion for horses and loved to race standardbreds with his wife and family. He enjoyed spending time at the Red Mile with his friends and family and in the summertime, Jim and his family often spent time at the lake on his pontoon, “Serene.”

In addition to his wife of 53 years, James is survived by his three sons; Kevin Schulte, Jimmy (Jenny) Schulte, and Joe Hagans; two  daughters, Melissa (Jimmy) Gayhart and Tonya Taylor; five grandchildren Austin Taylor, Makayla (Colton) Mott, Marcus (Lauren) Wells-Rody, Cody Gayhart, and Jacob Gayhart; two great-grandchildren, Kason Mott and Jace Wells; sister, Carol (Tom) Gagnon; and brother-in-law Tommy Marshall. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Albert Schulte.

A Celebration of Life will be at noon Friday (June 21) at Ss. Francis & John Parish at Cardome, conducted by Rev. Linh Nguyen. Visitation will be 10 a.m. till service time.
