Jim Mace, 90, dies

Columbus, OH — Jim D. Mace, 90, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died April 4, 2023, at Adena Fayette Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Pickaway County, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Grace (Lovensheimer) Mace. He was a 1950 graduate of Jackson Township in Pickaway County. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He spent many years training and driving Standardbreds throughout Ohio and the east coast. He also owned and operated M&M Turf Supply in Washington Court House and Scioto Downs.

He enjoyed fishing, raising and breeding horses, and harness racing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mace was preceded in death by his grandson, Miles; and two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Joan Lee (List), whom he married Jan. 9, 1960; sons, Doug (Beth) and Steve (Shane Summers); grandchildren, Morgan (Devon) Monroe, Mariah (Kayden) Roberts, and Phoenix Gregory; great-grandchildren, Oaklee Monroe and Ayla Monroe; extended family, David Rutherford and Tracey Carter; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at The Rusty Keg Crown Room on Monday (April 24) from 4-7 p.m.
