Judge rules Gural still can’t lease Meadowlands

from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that a Superior Court judge has refused to lift restraints that are preventing the state of New Jersey from signing a contract with Jeff Gural to lease Meadowlands Racetrack.

According to the Star-Ledger story, Judge Maurice Gallipoli imposed temporary restraints in July after two members of Local 137 of Laborers International Union of North America AFL-CIO claimed the union’s leadership illegally approved an agreement with Gural without a vote from the entire membership of the union, which primarily represents the track’s mutuel tellers.

Judge Gallipoli decided a contract between the state and Gural can’t be signed until he decides whether the vote was legal.
