Northville, MI — Last Bet (Bettor’s Delight–West Of L A) and driver Marc St. Louis Jr. captured the Saturday night (July 22) featured Open 1 Handicap Pace at Northville Downs in a time of 1:53.4.

Early leader Gabe The Babe put up fractions of :27.2, :57, and 1:25 to three-quarters when Commander Bob came to call first-up, towing Last Bet and Lying In Cash into the race from the back. As they went by three-quarters, Commander Bob tired, sending Last Bet and Lying In Cash three wide. As they battled into the stretch, Last Bet prevailed with Lying In Cash settling for the place and Gabe The Babe tired to third.
The win was Last Bet’s 15th career victory and the 5-year-old gelding is owned by Stacey Currie and trained by Danielle St. Louis.
Panther Time (Panther Hanover–Darling Katherine) swept by 1-5 favorite Oh K Man in the stretch of the Open 2 Pace to win in a final clocking of 1:55 which was a new season’s best. Panther Time, who earned his 20th career victory, is owned by Staci Malady and James Berry for trainer/driver Art McIlmurray. Oh K man settled for second and Dusto hung on for third.
Driver Kody Massey had a triple on the night and finished the weekend with eight total driving wins at the Michigan oval.
Racing at The Ville resumes Friday (July 28) at 7 p.m. Friday night is dollar night featuring $1 live programs, $1 pop and popcorn, $2 hot dogs and beer and hamburger and cheeseburger specials.
