Last call for clerk and charting school

by Jessica Schroeder, U.S. Trotting Association Assistant Fair Liaison

Columbus, OH — A clerk and charting school will be held April 28-May 1 at the USTA offices in Columbus, Ohio.

This extensive course will go through all the procedures and requirements for how to use the eTrack system, which race offices at both the pari-mutuel and county fair levels use to create race programs and submit entries and results to the USTA.

Both currently licensed officials and people interested in becoming licensed officials are encouraged to attend.

“We are excited to be able to provide a program that will assist not only the county fair programs throughout the country, but pari-mutuel racetracks as well,” explained TC Lane, the USTA’s Director of Officials. “The clerks and charters are vital in the operation of providing a successful racing program.”

Thursday and Friday will be classroom instruction; Saturday will be hands on charting during the qualifiers at Scioto and Sunday the exam will be administered to those that feel ready to pursue the license.

Cost for the clerk and charting school will be $50 for current USTA members and $100 for non-members. If interested in attending the school, fill out this application form and return by April 15.

Lodging information will be sent to each person upon receipt of their application.
