LBJ book still looking for a name

by Jay Wolf, assistant publicity director, The Little Brown Jug

Delaware, OH — The Little Brown Jug is still looking for a name for its new book, but you have to act fast.

The new book, which is expected to be released in the summer of 2009, will feature personal and/or favorite memories of Jug week.

The Little Brown Jug Society is conducting a contest to name the book, much like in 1944 when more than 4,000 names were suggested in a contest to name the race. Major Lanning Parsons of Mt. Vernon, Ohio submitted the winning entry, “Little Brown Jug.”

The book will be written by Tom White and Jay Wolf. White is a member of the Communicator’s Corner of the Harness Racing Hall Of Fame and has served as Jug Publicity Director since 1996. Wolf, a life-long resident of Delaware, has served as White’s assistant at Delaware since 2000.

This will be the second book published on the Little Brown Jug. “America’s Pacing Classic” was released in 1995 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event.

To submit an entry, please e-mail your suggestion to fair@delawarecountyfair.com. Submission deadline is October 20, 2008.
