“Learn to Bet Harness” guide in Saturday’s Daily Racing Form

Columbus, OH — As was announced on Sept. 30, the USTA has partnered with Daily Racing Form to create a “Learn to Bet Harness” wagering guide and five-part video series.

The program features a 16-page guide that will be an insert in Saturday’s (Oct. 26) national, print edition of the Daily Racing Form and will be seen by horse players and fans across North America.

In addition to this step-by-step guide on harness racing wagering strategies by DRF’s Editor Derick Giwner, it features tips from some of harness racing’s most knowledgeable handicappers and their expert selections on Saturday’s Breeders Crown races.

The five videos hosted by Giwner feature DRF expert handicappers Matt Rose and Dan Illman as well as the USTA’s own Michael Carter discussing handicapping strategies involving: drivers, trainers, track size, trip handicapping and a special video looking at the differences in betting harness racing versus Thoroughbred races.

“People often say horse racing is too difficult for new people to learn by themselves. That’s nonsense. People simply need the tools,” said Giwner when the program was announced a little more than three weeks ago. “The ‘Learn to Bet Harness’ insert coupled with the video series will go a long way toward furthering the mission of increasing our sport’s exposure to a wider audience. With the reach of DRF and USTA through digital, print and social media, this could truly move the needle in terms of education for the general public as well as Thoroughbred players who may have been hesitant to cross over.”

To get the most value from this initiative, the wagering guide and videos will be posted for future reference on both the USTA’s HarnessRacingFanZone.com and the Form’s website, drf.com, and will be promoted on social media by both USTA and DRF leading up to Saturday’s races.
