Vernon, NY — Vernon Downs wraps up its 2019 racing season Friday (Nov. 1) and Saturday (Nov. 2) and has multiple unique races written for closing weekend.

Next weekend we turn the clocks back one hour and in an annual tradition since 2011, with exception of 2017 when it did not fill, Vernon Downs turns its horses around. “Turn Back the Clock” rewind races will be written for horses at a distance of seven-eighths-mile in the clockwise direction.

With several double digit age horses still competing at Vernon Downs, going into closing weekend two “War Horse” events will be written as well. Each event will be for 10-year-olds and older with lifetime starts and money requirements.

As a thank you to our horsemen, purses for the final weekend of racing will reflect an increase of 15 percent across the board.
