Lislea Moran wins Northfield Open Pace

Northfield, OH — Monday (June 10) was an eventful evening at Northfield Park as 15 exciting races were on the program.

Lislea Moran took the Open Pace in the evening’s third race. Tomas O’Donnell owns the pacer and Andy Rickert is his conditioner.

Lislea Moran (Lislea-L’etoile) started from post four and was fourth through a :27.2 opening fraction. He came first-up approaching and was second at the :56.2 half and remained second through a three-quarters of 1:24.1.

Lislea Moran took the lead in the stretch and maintained a length victory with a winning time of 1:53.3. Greg Grismore was the winning driver. Completing the race were Moreland Flash, Royal Morn, Do Me Honor, Lite Me Up and Bookie Farout.

Lislea Moran now has three wins in 2013 and 26 career successes. Monday’s victory pushed his career bankroll to $253,747. He returned $16.20 to win.

In the evening’s fifth race Easy Strength trotted home for her fifth straight win. The 4-year-old mare is owned by Karen Travis. Trainer Gilbert Travis, Jr. has called upon Sam Schillaci to pilot her in all five of her most recent victories.

Easy Strength began from post seven and was at the back through the early stages of the mile, making a sweeping move on the end and winning by four lengths, stopping the clock at 1:57.2. She was the favorite and returned $4.20 to win.

Easy Strength (Royal Strength-Easy Lover) now has 14 career wins and a bankroll of $35,822.

Lady Rev was first to cross the wire to capture the $6,000 Open Trot in the evening’s sixth race. She is owned by the partnership of Oliver Hepner, Jr., Kathleen Duszynski and John Caterinacci. Hepner also trains the trotter and listed her regular driver Frank Harris.

Lady Rev (Revenue S-Red Mile Lane) started from post one and sat fourth along the rail through initial fractions of :28.1 and :57.2. Harris moved her to the outside in the third panel and she improved to third through a 1:27 three-quarter clocking.

Lady Rev made the lead in the final turn and held a one length margin of victory, winning in 1:57.3. Completing the race were Senator Sam, Calling A Victory, IPO Blue Chip, South Jersey Honey, Starlitestarbright and Sure Thing.

Lady Rev now has 21 lifetime wins and a bankroll of $86,678. She paid $6.20 to win.

Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. had a big night and drove five winners on the card. Wrenn’s winners included Danny Noonan ($5.60) in race seven, Corporate Sharrrk ($7.20) in race eight, VIP ($6.20) in race nine, Jumpin Jack J ($3.40) in race 10 and Walked Into Heaven ($4.60) in race 14.

Wrenn started driving in 2008 and has since garnered 864 career victories and is approaching $3 million in purse earnings. Wrenn has piloted a total of 253 winners so far in 2013, which ties him with Brian Sears as the fourth leading driver in North America this year. Only Corey Callahan, Dave Palone and Tim Tetrick have more wins this year than Wrenn.

Greg Grismore also had a good evening at Northfield, winning three races. Monday’s wins brought his total to 6,070 career wins and purse earnings of nearly $40 million.
