Lexington, KY — Kentucky Fair racing came to a season finale last Saturday (Aug. 4) at the Red Mile with trainer Henry Lunsford and Tom ‘T’ Tetrick taking home two wins from the eight race event.

Their first win came in the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot as Double Account scored a one length victory over Sir Lord Hall, stopping the clock in 1:56. The Break The Bank K gelding made four previous starts in the fair program and was only beaten once, by a nose, at the Mercer County Fair. Double Account is owned by Lunsford’s wife, Judy, and has added $16,250 to his bank account in 2018.

The Lunsford-Tetrick team earned their second win of the program in the 2-year-old filly trot with Parklane Destiny in 1:59.1. The freshman filly, by Andover Hall, made a late drive in the stretch to win by a neck over Devilish Diana. This was her second win from five starts, taking a new mark and bumping her earnings to $12,500. Parklane Destiny is co-owned by Judy Lunsford and Shirley Le Vin.

Driver Randy Crisler guided three of his mounts to the winner’s circle during the Kentucky Fair finals with his first winning drive in the 2-year-old filly pace with Tammylufrmtimbuckto. Owned and trained by Barkley Counts, the freshman filly cruised to an easy five length win in 1:55.1 and a new record. She is by Hypnotic Blue Chip and had four wins in the fair program prior to the final with $19,900 bankrolled.

Crisler’s second win of the evening came with Worldofrockzee in the 3-year-old filly pace as she sailed by favored Tiffany Rocks As in 1:55.2, brushing a last quarter in :27. The World of Rocknroll filly was raised and is owned by Stanley Wildharber and trained by Jack Gray Jr. Through the fair program she has posted three wins, including the fair final, with five second place finishes and has made $18,750 in 2018.

The third win for Crisler came in the 2-year-old colt and gelding pace with the Harley Emerson trained Caviart Max. Co-owned by Emerson and Jonda Smith, the Pet Rock gelding came a last quarter in :26.4, posting a 1:54.2 win over Native’s Sweetlou. With a new lifetime mark, Caviart Max boasts four wins and four seconds in the fair program and has earned $20,850.

Fort El Said regained his title as the Kentucky Fair 3-year-old colt and gelding pacing king as he conquered his rivals with a five length win in 1:55. Ryan Anderson was in the bike for trainer Tom Shehan. The Well Said gelding took home seven wins from eight starts in the fair program. He is owned by David Arboe and has made $31,190 in 2018.

Trainer Anette Lorentzon visited the winner’s circle with 2-year-old trotter Zazu As. By Lionhunter, Zazu As sat second until the field passed the three-quarter pole when driver Elliott Deaton pulled and the gelding responded with a 10 length victory in 1:57.1 over closest rival Sleep In. With four fair starts prior to the final, this was his second win, earning $13,750 for his owner, ACL Stuteri Ab.

The 3-year-old filly trot was won by a head when Champagne Hall overtook Vanessa Valentine at the wire in 1:57, earning a new lifetime mark. Trained and co-owned by Randy Jerrell and his sister, Joni Jordan, the Cash Hall filly made her second trip to the winner’s circle in as many weeks after she won her race in the Mercer County Fair. She boasts $16,000 through the fair program in 2018 from eight starts with two wins, four seconds and a third.

With the Kentucky Fair season ending, many of the regular starters in the fair program will now turn their attention towards the Kentucky Sire Stakes series scheduled to start Thursday (Aug. 16) with the 2-year-old trotters taking the stage at the Red Mile. Two-year-old pacers will be featured on Saturday (Aug. 18). The first leg for 3-year-old pacers and trotters is slated for Sunday (Aug. 19), also at the Red Mile.

Each leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes series will race for a purse of $30,000. Those qualifying for the final will get a chance at a $250,000 purse with consolations racing for $50,000.
