MacDonald/Schnittker win trio of Landmark Stakes at Goshen

Goshen, NY — Mark MacDonald and Ray Schnittker teamed up to win three Landmark Stakes over the weekend as the Grand Circuit visited Historic Track.

On Saturday, MacDonald guided Schnitter trainees High Life to a 2:00.1 victory in the $13,100 Landmark for 3-year-old male trotters and Man Ray to a 2:02 triumph in the $10,100 Landmark for 3-year-old male pacers.

High Life, a son of Walner-Superstar Hanover, is owned by Schnittker, Ted Gewertz, and Arden Homestead Stable. He was bred by Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. Man Ray (So Surreal-Artcotic) is owned by Schnittker and was bred by Gewertz.

On Sunday, the MacDonald-Schnittker tandem won in 2:02 with On Cloud Wine in the $7,775 Landmark for 2-year-old female pacers. On Cloud Wine (Huntsville-Wine Snob) is owned by Schnittker, Steven Arnold, and Nolamaura Racing. She was bred by Steve Jones and Jonathan Kurnit. She was timed in 2:02.

Winning Sunday’s $12,000 Landmark for 2-year-old male pacers was Portugal The Man (Well Said-Brazilian) in 1:58.2 for driver Jason Bartlett and trainer Mike Kimelman. He is owned by Kimelman and Joseph Costable and was bred by Spring Haven Farm.

Other Landmark winners on Saturday were HL Olmaya in the $8,325 event for 3-year-old female trotters, in 2:00.2, and Hurrikaneaphrodite in the $8,325 event for 3-year-old female pacers, in 1:55.2.

HL Olmaya (Six Pack-Lima Novelty), trained and driven by Harry Landy, is owned by Share A Horse Inc. and was bred by Blue Chip Bloodstock. Hurrikaneaphrodite (Huntsville-Platinum Choice) won for driver Jordan Stratton, trainer John McDermott, and owners Jonathan Klee Racing, Justin Bolasci, Big George Stables, and Hurrikane Racing. She was bred by Winbak Farm.

Sunday’s $10,000 Hall of Fame Trot was won by David Miller, who drove Mufasa As to a 1:57.4 score for trainer Mark Ford. An 8-year-old gelding, Mufasa As (Lionhunter-Manteslajolie) is owned by Ford and was bred by ACL Stuteri AB.
