MADC featured four times on Friday Meadowlands card

East Rutherford, NJ — The MADC was featured four times on the Friday night (March 8) Meadowlands card, with three MADC 1 pace races and one trot. Three of the four races did not feature the betting favorite winning.

In the first race, it was the veteran Atta Boy Dan (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) who found himself on the lead, but was unable to maintain that in the stretch. He rebuffed a strong challenge by Cloudbreak (Matt Zuccarello), who got within a length around the far turn, but in the end it was the pocket sitter Takeittotheface (Peter Kleinhans) who skimmed the cones in time to pick up the victory over longshot Final Justice (Tony Beltrami). Sheridan hung on for the show dough. The mile was paced in 1:55.3.

The winner is a 10-year-old gelding owned by Kleinhans and trained by James Foley.

In the fourth race, it was a tussle for the lead in the only trotting event and with horses left on the limb, it set it up for the closers. It was the second choice Allindotime (John Calabrese) who made a bold brush to the lead at the top of the stretch and ended up winning by 2-3/4 lengths over longshot Warrawee Preferred (Joe Lee). Lionhead (Sheridan) rounded out the trifecta. The final time was 1:56.2.

The winner is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Alma Iafelice and trained by Bill Mackenzie.

In the sixth race, it was a battle for early supremacy and after getting parked to the quarter pole longshot Rollinwithdaponyzzz (Scott Keppler) took over the lead but that took its toll and set up the stretch drive for horses coming from mid-pack. In the end, it was longshot Mv Ok Palacio Br (Rob Harmon) who followed live cover from the favorite, Kissinbythebeaches (Kleinhans), to get up in time by 1-1/2 lengths to win in 1:54.3. Thndrfrmthethron N (Neil Glasser) rounded out the trifecta.

The winner is an 8-year-old gelding owned by Harmon Racing Stable and trained by the winning driver.

In the final MADC event on the card, race eight, it was once again a battle for the lead at the quarter pole and this would set up horses from mid-pack and near the rear of the field to garner the top three spots. After a :27.1 opening stanza, it was Skyway Billy (Lee) who finally cleared to the lead over a stubborn Ferdinand A (James Slendorn). Right before the half, it was Sunshine’s Finest (Calabrese) who pulled first over and was able to clear to the lead before the three-quarter pole and won by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:52.2. It was longshot Aintnobettor A (Dakota Jackson) who got up for second over a hard charging Rock On Line (Anthony Verruso).

The winner is an 8-year-old gelding co-owned by Mary Cuerbo and William Clark Jr. and is trained by Tom Shay.

The MADC will be back Saturday night for one event. Post time is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
