MADC in action Saturday at The Big M

East Rutherford, NJ — With two races on the Saturday night (July 20) card, the MADC races brought some exciting finishes. It was almost a rarity as both betting favorites almost pulled off wins but ended up in the top two spots in both events.

In the first race, it was the usual cavalry charge for the lead and lots of action throughout the entire mile. With the outer flow being created before the half-mile marker, the post-time favorite Muscle Factory A (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) made a move fourth over on the outside and then a three-wide swing as the field turned for home.

He was able to sweep past all his rivals en route to an easy three length victory. Rock Jagger (Anthony Verruso) had a troubled trip and got clearance late to get up for second, while T Dog (Michael Kimelman) finished third.  The mile went in 1:52. The 9-year old horse is co-owned by Sheridan along with Team Tritton Inc. out of NY and is trained by Shane Tritton.

In the fourth race, it was a similar result to the first race, but this time, the winner put in a huge mile. Whammer Jammer (James Slendorn) was parked from the start and dug in gamely to outduel the pacesetter, Gazoo (Michael Kimelman), to win by a head.  They both came home in 26.2. Dragon Said (Peter Kleinhans) rounded out the trifecta. Slendorn owns this 5-year-old gelding that is trained by Kelvin Harrison.

The MADC races will be back next Friday night. The first post is scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
