PLAINVILLE, MA – Freshman Cam’s Card Shark colt Marced Card, in his first career pari-mutuel start, set a national season’s race mark at Plainridge Racecourse this past Saturday afternoon.
Bred by Walnridge Farm of Creamridge, N.J. and owned by Frederick La Flash of Leicester Mass., Marced Card came three-wide at the three-quarter pole and paced his last quarter-mile in :281 and posted a 1:572, one-half length victory over Major Distraction and Timeisonmyside in a non-winners of one conditioned race, the third race on Plainridge’s Belmont Day racing card.
The win was the fastest in a race by a 2-year-old colt in a race on a five-eighths mile track in North America in 2004.
Including qualifying races, Marced Hanover, trained by Don Brown and driven by Jim Hardy, is now undefeated in three lifetime appearances. He has a winning qualifying raceline at both Plainridge Raccourse and Spring Garden Ranch.
The win was one of three on the card for Hardy, who also scored with Doyle’ Black Fury in the $3,000 Patriot Pace in 1:57 and with Zero Visibility, who paced to a 1:572 mark in a conditioned race.
Brad Irvine also scored a pair of wins on the Saturday afternoon program with Sharp Reward, in 1:58, and with Unbreakable Heart, in 1:57.
