Marie Hill, Equine Artist contests return

by Jason Turner

Columbus, OH — It’s almost summertime, and that means two of the USTA’s coolest contests are back — the Marie Hill Youth Writing Contest and the Equine Artist of Tomorrow Contest.

Whether you’re a writer, a photographer, an artist, or all three, if you’re a USTA Youth Member, now is your chance to enter to win cash and other great prizes.

The Marie Hill Youth Writing Contest is open to all Youth members, 16 years of age and under. Entries may be fiction or nonfiction, but must be about harness racing and/or the Standardbred breed, and may not exceed 750 words. Submissions must be received no later than Aug. 15. Winners will be selected in two categories: 12 and under and 13-16. The top overall entry will be featured in Youth Beats, and cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third-place entries.

The Equine Artist of Tomorrow contest is open to all Youth Members. Contestants may submit entries in the following two categories: art and traditional media and photography. Contestants may submit only one entry per category. A winner will be selected from each category (provided that a minimum of five entries are received) and the overall winner will win an exclusive USTA prize package and be featured in Youth Beats. Entries must be received no later than Aug. 15.

Entries must be accompanied by an official entry form or cover letter. Send submissions to 750 Michigan Ave., Columbus, OH 43215. For more information contact Jason Turner by e-mail at jason.turner@ustrotting.com or by phone at 877.800.8782, ext. 3269.
