Nichols, NY — May Baby and driver Braxten Boyd captured the $15,000 Open Handicap Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 17).
May Baby ($6.10) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.1. She used a :28.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :56. Makadushin N Cheez (Ridge Warren) came first-up going down the backstretch and challenged for the lead, but May Baby remained first to three-quarters in 1:24.4.
As they reached the stretch, May Baby let out another notch and won easily in 1:54.1. Makadushin N Cheez had to settle for second. Kinnder Thinktwice (Jim Taggart Jr.) finished third.

May Baby is a 7-year-old mare by Guccio owned by Cheyenne Yoder and trained by Brandy Wine. It was her eighth win in 2024. She now owns 32 career victories.
Braxten Boyd and Mike Merton had driving triples.
